After being in the shelter for nearly a year, shy and timid Cupid began to deteriorate further. Anytime someone came near her kennel, she would pace frantically back and forth at the furthest point away from the visitors. Sometimes cowering inside the dog house. Volunteers from The Ark reached out to us about Cupid knowing that in her current condition, it would be nearly impossible for her to get adopted. Luckily we had space for Cupid!
We brought Cupid home and began to slowly integrate her into our pack. She quickly became one of the pack. We were finally able to see Cupid in a relaxed state and dare we say she was even having fun. Cupid definitely gathers her confidence when she's around other dogs. When she's by herself though, she's still pretty timid. When you first meet Cupid, it will take her a little bit to get comfortable with you But, once she does, she gives the sweetest "Eskimo" kisses and will help keep you warm when she curls up next to you.
Cupid is approximately 2.5 years old. Cupid is a small to medium size mixed breed (probably cattle dog and border collie), weighing in at approximately 45 pounds. She is motivated by treats and kind words. Cupid is house trained as well as crate trained. She knows some basic commands. Cupid would do best with other canine siblings, since she still has trouble gaining confidence when she is by herself.
Kinley is a lab/hound mix. She now weighs a healthy 55 lbs. She was extremely malnourished when we rescued her from the shelter, just ten days before she gave birth. Kinley had been on her own for a while because she completely distrusted humans. She may have never had human contact before being caught by animal control.
After many months of working diligently to gain her trust, she's finally coming up and letting us pet her. She loves to play with the other OTC dogs. She gives the cutest little smile when she is greeting you.
Kinley is now ready to begin meeting potential adopters. She will require a HIGH fenced in yard as she will jump the fence if she wants to. She has only jumped the fence with us once when she was scared, but she has "kennel jumped" in order to play with her kennel mates next to her. She is house trained and is learning basic obedience skills.
When this girl first got here, she didn't trust anyone or any other animals. But over the last year, this girl has been working hard at learning how to interact with other dogs. Certain dogs she won't get along with but others she acts like she's been around her whole life.
We have 2 female puppies that are so cute and cuddly. These gals are about almost 6 months old as of June 2022. They're up to date on their shots to include Rabies. They will be spayed prior to adoption. Both of these girls are smart and playful. They'll each bring their own unique personality to your family. They love to run and play but are just as happy to sit for cuddles. These two are so smart! How can you go wrong when they're already trained to potty outside and know baisc obedience commands??
We also have 2 of Marilyn's puppies left that are only about a month younger than Opal & Oval. All are up to date on their shots. Punkin(F) and Bubba Dog(M) are going to be big babies! At almost 5 months old, they are weighing in at over 25lbs already! Bubba may be closer to 30lbs but they're both so very sweet and just want human affection and to play.
Your support and contributions will enable us to continue to meet our goals and improve conditions for these homeless pets. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
